Each of us across the world have been deeply impacted by the Covid 19. We celebrate the science, sacrifice, and service that has emerged from these events and mourn with those who have lost loved ones and struggled in the wake of this pandemic. We recognize the need for community and hope that after a long year of uncertainty, isolation, and disruption that our trips can be a source of inspiration and restoration of the joy to be found moving through wild spaces.
2021 Operations Statement
As we prepare for the 2021 running season the Aspire team is carefully and consistently reviewing local, regional, and national health guidelines pertaining to Covid 19. Based on the best available information, communication and clearance from our permitting partners, and a track record of safe events in 2020 we expect to operate our full calendar of 2021 trips. We are committed to following our Covid Operating Plan to reduce risk of exposure for all of our staff and participants and ask that all of our runners, vaccinated or not, adhere to our social distancing protocols. For runners who are uncomfortable or unable to travel and participate in their registered trips we have a Covid 19 Registration/Cancellation Policy in place.
Aspire Covid Operating Plan
There is no way to operate wilderness and backcountry trips without risk. We are choosing to move forward with plans that allow us to mitigate the risks associated with COVID-19 in our operations. Our specific policies and procedures are outlined in the following documents:
- Aspire COVID Operations “One Sheet”: Operations at a Glance This is a quick overview of what to expect in relation to health and safety in preparation for and during future Aspire trips.
- Aspire COVID Acknowledgment of Risk This addendum to our standard Acknowledgment of Risk document, will require a signature of all runners prior to participating in Aspire trips.
- Aspire COVID Operations Handbook This is the comprehensive handbook/reference for all operating procedures in the covid era. This is a living document that will be adapted as we continue to better understand best practices relating to COVID-19.
Covid-19 Registration/Cancellation Policy
If state or federal health directives prevent someone from attending a 2020 program, or prevents Aspire from operating it as published, any and all collected fees may be converted to a credit towards future 2021, 2022, 2023 Aspire trips. This credit will be subject to Aspire’s normal terms and conditions, as found in the Aspire Handbook. Traveler’s insurance, purchased by runners, remains essential to safeguarding the financial risk associated with adventure travel, this pertains to issues related and unrelated to Covid-19. We continue to encourage all participants to protect their investment accordingly. In the event of financial difficulty runners may submit a refund request.
